The 2011 Chateau-Fuisse Les Brules is from deep marl soils. Antoine explained that, as the name suggests, you can easily pick too late because of the exposure, yet the cold soils can deceive you into picking early. The 2011 was fermented entirely in oak. It has a wonderful Puligny-like bouquet with hazelnut, grilled almond and smoky aromas that exude finesse and class. It has a powerful, spicy, beautifully focused palate with perfect acidity and a palpable sense of energy on the long, enthralling finish. This is simply superb. - Neal Martin

Complex wine that has both great fruitiness and great structure. It’s very ripe, dense and textured, a wine with weight and a feeling of warmth. Brûlés means burnt because the vineyard has great exposure to the sun and that gives a powerful and concentrated wine. Age for 5–6 years.

This is also moderately oaked though not so much that it dominates the very ripe nose of exotic dried yellow fruit that displays background notes of smoke and spice. There is impressive volume and richness to the extract-rich medium weight plus flavors that terminate in an intensely citrus-infused, dry, clean and gorgeously long finish.
