It is elegant, stylish, its fruits well integrated with red berry and plum skin flavors. Powerful while round and fruity with a fine sense of weight, this wine will develop relatively quickly but will then stay at its peak for many years. Drink from 2017.

A chewy wine but the tannins are polished and pretty. Full body, intense fruit and tannins, and a persistent finish. Muscular but balanced. Try in 2018.

Cassis, vanilla and pipe tobacco aromas are complicated by coffee and cocoa on the deeply scented nose and palate. Broad and fleshy, with licorice and bitter chocolate qualities gaining strength with air. Shows serious power for the vintage, finishing chewy, sweet and very long, with rising tannins and lingering flintiness. Considering the difficult vintage, this strikes me as an extremely successful Clerc Milon. -- Ian D'Agata

The 2011 Clerc Milon is really quite good and of all the wines shown at Mouton this year, this is the one that I have the most confidence about its future evolution moving in a very positive direction. The deep and classy nose offers up scents of cassis, cigar ash, lead pencil, gravel and a nice touch of smokiness in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite reserved on the attack, with a firm core of fruit, good focus and a long, tangy and ripely tannic finish. This will need at least a good dozen years in the cellar before its starts to drink well, but it will be a very good wine in the fullness of time. (Drink between 2025-2065)

Part of the Rothschild stable located in the northernmost part of the Pauillac appellation. Vineyards are planted in a mixture of sand and gravel with more clay towards the river. A toasty and high-toned nose of red and black fruits is complimented by graphite black pepper and baking spices. On the palate vibrant acidity and fairly aggressive tannins provide a contrast to the red fruit and spice notes. This will need time to mellow out but should prove quite age-worthy. Enjoy 2015-2025.

The 2011 Clerc Milon is a hit when it comes to easy drinking Bordeaux. This shows a deep garnet red at the core with slight fading at the rim. The nose is well developed and dominated at the moment by red fruit aromas, with a touch of menthol, spice and tobacco lurking underneath. The palate confirms the nose and is balanced with the addition of potpourri notes. Mouthwatering acidity and solid mid palate weight, this is a soft, charming and approachable Bordeaux to enjoy over the next decade.
