This is ripe yet very fresh with notes of iodine, ocean breeze, mineral reduction and dried yellow orchard fruit. Somewhat surprisingly, this is both bigger and richer than the Vaudésir but with first class vibrancy, all wrapped in a saline-infused, explosive and distinctly cool finish. In sum, this moderately dry effort is lovely and in particular the balance is impeccable.

Michel’s 2011 Chablis Grenouilles leads with fresh lime and sea water suffused with green tea, an impression that adumbrates its briny, bright, intriguingly herbal and mineral palate impression. Fruit pit piquancy enhances the invigoration of a sustained, buoyant and refreshing finish. I don’t usually associate such nuance and dynamic with this site, though admittedly it is the grand cru I encounter least often. Plan to savor this example through at least 2020. - David Schildknecht
