Tasted blind in a line-up of 2011 Amoureuses in Holland, Faiveley’s 2011 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Amoureuses has an extroverted, floral bouquet that verges on gregarious with plush maraschino, blueberry, iris and a light sea influence. It is beautifully defined and focused, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied, nicely balanced, with quite chewy, sinewy tannins. It feels just a little rustic at the moment, a little austerity coming through toward the finish that has a hint of soy sauce on the aftertaste. Tasted June 2014. - NEAL MARTIN
