The 2011 Macon-Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette is close to Uchizy and is usually the first vineyard to be picked. The nose is taciturn at the moment and demands more coaxing from the glass (a surprise given its exposure). The palate is well-balanced with a fresh, slightly minty, lime opening that builds in the mouth toward the harmonious dried apricot and quince-infused finish that is very satisfying. I would suggest decanting this Macon for just an hour or two to let it open. - Neal Martin

An expressive and very pretty nose of white peach, pear and apple aromas leads to seductively textured flavors that are clean and bright. There is solid mid-palate concentration to the citrusy, complex, balanced and attractively persistent finish that displays an interesting hint of green tea.
