Sleek and racy with no angles as boysenberry and raspberry fruit courses along nicely supported by light charcoal and ganache shadings on the finish. Yet this is showing its wood today even though Moueix uses just one-third new oak and this particular sample is noticeably darker in profile than most others in the vintage. Tasted non-blind.-J.M.

Now one of my favorite Pomerols (a 2005 tasted in Beijing, China recently was out of this world), the 2011 Hosanna does not have the power of that vintage, or 2009 and 2010, but it exhibits complex forest floor, floral... Now one of my favorite Pomerols (a 2005 tasted in Beijing, China recently was out of this world), the 2011 Hosanna does not have the power of that vintage, or 2009 and 2010, but it exhibits complex forest floor, floral, black raspberry and black cherry notes. With a savory, broad opulence as well as a medium to full-bodied appeal, this silky smooth, seductive, complex wine can be drunk now or cellared for a decade or more. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

The Hosanna 2011 takes times to settle in the glass but it attains wonderful cohesion and delineation. It is still very primal and not as cohesive as Christian Moueix's other Pomerols but it will harmonize and assimilate in bottle. The palate is more composed and delivers a svelte ball of ripe spicy red fruit perhaps a little lower in acidity with a caressing toasty finish in keeping with Hosanna's plusher slightly more opulent style that is shows in its youth. Tasted April 2012.

Vines are harvested by hand with an average age of 40 years. Production will hover just shy of 1500 cases in 2011. Opaque purple with a dark violet hue. The aromatics suggest red fruits truffle dried herbs and old leather. Vibrant and mineral-inflected black cherry blackberry olive and licorice flavors shape the entry and mid-palate. Tannins and fruit are nicely integrated with a lovely contrast between talc and creamy textures on the back end. Briary cola nut flavors emerge on the finish. Drink 2015-2022.
