Tasted blind at the Sauternes 2011 horizontal tasting. The Château Lamothe-Guignard 2011 has a complex bouquet with dried honey, white peach, hints of barley sugar, rosewater and mandarin, all tightly wound at the moment but sure to blossom with bottle age. The palate is medium-bodied with pure botrytis fruit, good tension and poise, dried honey and orange peel on the entry, but just missing a little length and persistence on the finish. Other than that, this should age nicely. - Neal Martin
