After the stunningly brilliant 2010 Clos St. Jacques from Louis Jadot, I was prepared for a slight letdown with the 2011, but this wine is absolutely stunning and may well be an equal for the supernal 2010! The supremely elegant nose delivers a beautifully refined mélange of red and black cherries, grilled meat, fresh herb tones, espresso, black minerality, woodsmoke, mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very, very complex, with a superb core of pure fruit, outstanding focus and grip, fine-grained tannins and stunning backend energy on the very, very long and refined finish. Another absolutely profound vintage for the Clos St. Jacques. (Drink between 2025-2075)
