This expressive effort possesses the most complex nose to this point in the tasting with its impressively layered notes of white flower tidal pool seaweed and hints of mineral reduction. There is knockout intensity to the rich and powerful yet refined flavors that possess plenty of attractive underlying tension before culminating in a balanced racy and tightly focused finish. This should also amply reward mid-term cellaring. ♥ - Comments: Sweet spot Outstanding

Today it comes across as ethereal and elusive with moderate overall depth. The elements don't seem to be fully in place here. There is a slight hint of residual sugar which is not entirely unexpected given Michel's use of native yeasts and the inherent richness of the vintage. Michel's Fourchaume emerges from a parcel in the Vaulorent climat and is sold as Chablis Vaulorent for the French market. Anticipated maturity: 2013+.-Antonio Galloni
