Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers 2011 has a much more classical nose compared to Etienne Grivot’s, with attractive sous-bois notes penetrating the brambly red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannins. There is fine tension here from start to finish, the acidity well judged and there is a gentle crescendo towards the tense, persistent and herbaceous-tinged finish. It is a little underripe. but I believe this will age well. - Neal Martin
