Wine Spectator, December 2014

Shows fantastic range, featuring creamed Jonagold apple, papaya, toasted coconut, brioche and pineapple notes, laced with macadamia nut and heather honey details. The long, sweetened butter–filled finish shows citrus oil...

Neal Martin's Wine Journal, April 2012

The 2011 de Fargues has a delicate perhaps slightly more malic bouquet than I was expecting. At present it is a little more disjointed than its peers although I am sure it will become more cohesive throughout its...

Vinous, April 2022

The 2011 Château de Fargues has a touch of chlorine on the nose, well defined with honey and saffron aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite fresh and zesty, good tension, lightly spiced on...

Wine Enthusiast, May 2012

(WE92-94 points) Barrel sample. A smooth and rich wine that also shows depth of flavor. Wrapped in its tight texture are notes of peach and mango, bitter orange and lemon zest. It’s a fine wine that should age for many years.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2015

Tasted blind at the Sauternes 2011 horizontal tasting. The Château de Fargues 2011 has a slightly disjointed nose at first, although with aeration it appears to coalesce with scents of honey, almond shavings, an exotic...

Chateau de Fargues is one of the oldest estates in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux and has been in the Lur Saluces family since 1472. Wine production only began in the 19th century, and not until 1935 were white grapes planted.

Chateau de Fargues’ 17 hectares of vines are located on a clay-gravel plateau with a clay and hardpan subsoil. The vines are an average of 35 years old and consist of two varieties: Semillon (80%), which gives richness, roundness, and structure to the wine, and Sauvignon Blanc (20%), which contributes wonderful aromas.

Chateau de Fargues has an extravagant bouquet, superb flavor and sometimes develops minerality with age.
