It is not all that common, but not unheard of by any means, for a producer's appellation bottling to be rated ahead of its single-vineyard effort, and such is the case with the new wines from Three Sticks. In this case, it should be noted that this wine carries an equivalent price and thus the winery also recognizes its great charms. It offers a precise, energetic look at red-cherry fruit with a clear hint of raspberry and makes good use of oak to provide a lovely framework for its generous aromas. It finishes with both length and energy, and, while it will make pleasant drinking even now, we would suggest that it be given some three or four more years of time in bottle.
