Also inky colored, full-bodied and seriously rich, the 2011 Hermitage boasts knockout aromas and flavors of blueberry, creme de cassis, plum pit, scorched earth and crushed rock. Dense, concentrated, yet also voluptuously textured, with sweet tannin and notable freshness and purity, it will have an easy 12-15 years of longevity. - Jeb Dunnuck

Lovely dark plum, anise and black currant notes are melded together, lined with smoldering cocoa and black tea accents. Shows a long, loamy echo through the well-toasted finish. Best from 2015 through 2020. 40 cases... Lovely dark plum, anise and black currant notes are melded together, lined with smoldering cocoa and black tea accents. Aromas of dark berry, plum and cassis mix with hints of licorice, black tea and just a hint of toasty oak. Suave and refined on the palate, there is a bright core of acidity which nicely balances the dark fruit, while the tannins are fine and integrated. The dark fruit and just a hint of spice lingers on the palate through a long and robust finish. Already drinking well, this should easily impress for another 15+ years. Impressive, particularly considering the price.
