(89 - 92) The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Le Purosot Dessus comes from 80-year-old vines that produced small berries and underwent a slow malo-lactic fermentation (consequently my sample had not been racked). It was the only cuvee unaffected by the inclement weather and yields were only slightly down on the previous year. It has a well-defined, but more primal nose than the other cuvees because of that tardy malo-lactic, although there appears to be fine fruit concentration. The palate is more representative with subtle tropical notes married with crisp acidity and a reduced finish that will eventually blossom in the bottle with age. I would afford this three or four years after bottling in order to savor that latent minerality. - NM
