jamessuckling.com, February 2015

Pure and precise aromas of dark fruits and currants with hints of stones follow through to a full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Harmonious and very elegant. Better in 2017.

janeanson.com, March 2022

Softly brushed tannins, gourmet and enticing grilled fruit flavours and waves of peony and violet aromatics. Enjoyable, with character, this is an excellent wine and one of the true pleasures of the vintage.

Wine Enthusiast, May 2015

Named after the chapel that brings out the monastic feel of Château la Mission Haut-Brion, this second wine is firm and tannic, with a dusty texture and a dry, firm aftertaste. It's nowhere near ready to drink although...

Vinous, September 2022

The 2012 Chapelle de la Mission has quite an intense blackberry, tobacco and leather-scented bouquet with just a hint of liquorice percolating through with time. The palate is medium-bodied, quite elegant on the entry...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, March 2015

The beautiful second wine, the 2012 La Chapelle de La Mission Haut Brion, has a dense ruby/purple color, sweet raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, subtle earth and spice, supple tannins and an opulent fleshy mouthfeel. It...

Wine Spectator, March 2015

This is taut, with a sappy edge to the red currant and plum fruit flavors, while singed alder, bay and tar notes line the finish. Shows ample depth and length, but needs to uncoil a bit. Best from 2016 through 2022. 4,215...

Created by the noble Lestonnac family in the early years of the 16th century, the vineyard of Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion owes its name and its reputation to a missionary order commonly known as the Lazarites, who held the property from 1682 until the French Revolution.

The property is situated just opposite that of Chateau Haut-Brion, in the Pessac-Leognan appellation of the Northern Graves region. The vineyard covers an area of 29 hectares of which 26.60 hectares are planted with 42.7% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10.3% Cabernet Franc with an annual production of 6,000 to 7,000 cases. Over 3 hectares are devoted to white grape varieties (Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc).

In 1983, the Dillon family, already owners of Chateau Haut-Brion, added Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion to Domaine Clarence Dillon’s holdings. The new owners immediately set to work on an ambitious renovation program for the property, giving La Mission a new lease on life.

In the space of twenty-five years, the Dillon family, having fallen under the spell of this enchanting estate, successfully completed their impressive makeover of Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion so that for many years to come , it might continue to offer wine connoisseurs the world over a little glimpse of paradise in each bottle.
