The 2012 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros comes from the domaine’s steepest vineyard and was the last grand cru to be picked on September 28. It has a more reticent nose than the Vaudesir, one that is less generous at this early stage, quite austere and a little earthy. The palate is very well-balanced, more linear and focused than the Vaudesir. The palate has a light spiciness that become more conspicuous toward the finish with a subtle Asian influence, shaved ginger and, like Frederic Drouhin himself commented, just a suggestion of coriander that renders it almost Alsace-like. This is very fine and quite intellectual. Drink 2016-2026. - Neal Martin
