A touch of nut oil and flavors of peach, apple, hazelnut and mineral denote this creamy, concentrated white. Lush and vibrant, this lingers on the lemon- and spice-tinged aftertaste. Best from 2017 through 2026. From France. — B.S.

(BH89-92 points) While there is noticeable reduction it's not so much that the ripeness of the underlying fruit cannot be seen. The mouth feel of the medium weight flavors is finer than the Puligny villages but not as concentrated and here too there is that lovely sense of tension to the clean, dry, linear and citrus-inflected finale. This will also need a minimum of 3 to 5 years of cellar time before it will begin to display some of its potential.

(WA89-91 points) The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Sous Le Dos d’Ane has a refined bouquet with subtle scents of almond and white chocolate tincturing the tightly wound bouquet. The palate is refined, almost introspective on the entry. It is well-balanced with fine acidity, though it remains very focused and linear. There finish is bright and vivacious with citrus lemon and sour lemon lining the long finish. Very fine. - Neal Martin

Next to Perrières, and Eric Remy feels each year brings more and more minerality. Smoky reduced and quite broad on the palate with lots to chew on and even a little honeyed character. Relatively friendly. Broad and earlier maturing than some, I would guess. 17/20
