Fresh lemon and orange zest on the nose, with hints of white flowers and chalky minerals gaining strength with air. Sappy citrus fruit and melon flavors are complemented by musky iodine and floral qualities and firmed by a bright mineral underpinning. Impressively vibrant chardonnay, with excellent finishing clarity and persistence.

This bottling provides a promising glimpse into the quality of the 2012s. It’s so rich and ripe in citrus and tropical fruits, you won’t miss the barrel influence. Try now with sushi, tuna tartare, or a salad of bitter greens, tropical fruits and feta cheese.

The 2012 Chardonnay Clone 76 – Inox has a very steely, fresh bouquet of citrus rind, green herbs, mineral and lemongrass to go with a medium-bodied, racy palate that has good overall depth and concentration, yet could use a smidge of baby fat. Nevertheless, the acidity here is well- integrated and it is a lively, focused and balanced white that would be perfect for starting a meal. Enjoy it over the coming 3-4 years or so. Drink now-2016. - Jeb Dunnuck
