(BH90-92 points) A pure, elegant and restrained nose of both red and dark currant aromas are nuanced by notes of earth and a hint of underbrush. There is plenty of minerality to the equally refined middle weight flavors that are supported by relatively fine-grained tannins on the punchy, detailed and quite serious finish. While the structure is fine it's dense and thus this will require at least a decade to be at its best.

(WA90-92 points) The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Fonteny is bridled with a very pure bouquet with wild strawberry and bergamot scents, a touch of mineralite emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, silky on the entry with fine structure towards the poised finish, hints of white pepper on the aftertaste. Very fine. - Neal Martin
