Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes from Dominique Lafon has a beautiful nose with lemon thyme, lime flower, mineral scents that are just so neatly poised and delineated. The palate has exquisite balance, perfectly judged acidity, wonderful poise and sustain in the mouth. This is exactly what you would seek from a top flight Meursault Charmes that will repay long-term cellaring. Dominique just nailed this one. - Neal Martin

Reduction again flattens the fruit and I would also suggest decanting this if you're going to try a bottle young. The palate impression of the medium-bodied flavors is more concentrated if a bit less fine compared to that of the Bouchères. There is good minerality to the impressively intense medium-bodied flavors that continues onto the notably dry but not really austere finish that delivers outstanding length and balance. This superb effort will need all of a decade to arrive at its peak.
