The 2012 Gevrey Chambertin from the talented Arnaud Mortet seemed a little bashful on the nose, but with aeration it reveals attractive blackberry and wild strawberry scents that are well defined, just a touch of sous-bois with further opening. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded ripe tannin, plenty of bold dark cherry and raspberry fruit that exerts a gentle grip. The acidity is well judged here and there is a finesse on the finish above Village Cru quality. This is simply excellent. - Neal Martin

A bright, cool and restrained nose speaks of various red berries and plenty of Gevrey style earth scents. There is fine detail and very solid ripeness to the delicious and equally restrained medium-bodied flavors that also exude a fine minerality on the balanced finish that displays just a touch of rusticity. This is a fine Gevrey villages and worth your attention.
