As one would reasonably expect this is markedly bigger and richer than the Bouchères with excellent mid-palate density and plenty of palate coating dry extract that enhances the sense of richness and body as well as buffer the moderately firm supporting acidity on the balanced and equally long finish. This is presently less complex but the underlying material is such that my predicted range foresees the possibility that more will develop with bottle age.

(WA91-93 points) The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Goutte d'Or comes from 0.39-hectares of vine that were planted in 1991. It is more introverted on the nose compared to its siblings with apple peel and fresh pear scents combining with alpine stream. The palate has commendable weight and depth with a seam of lemongrass underneath the citrus fruits, wax resin and toffee apple towards the tender finish. This is a very fine premier cru. - Neal Martin
