An agreeably perfumed nose of various red berries, plum and soft spice nuances leads to delicious, intense and quite pure medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by relatively refined tannins on the balanced and persistent finish. From vines in the north of the appellation, the 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a beautiful orange zest and rose petal scented, very feminine bouquet that opens gloriously in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins, fine structure with an appealing, slightly foursquare “correct” finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. This is an appealing, “studious” village cru that would prefer not to be glugged. - Neal Martin (WA91-89)
