The domaine’s own version of Champs Chenys is excellent in 2012, wafting from the glass in a very polished blend of black plums, black cherries, cocoa, a complex base of soil tones, grilled meats, woodsmoke and nutty oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and quite sappy at the core, with lovely focus and grip, ripe tannins and outstanding balance on the long, elegant and nascently complex finish. This is really a beautiful bottle of wine in the making.
