Juicy fresh apple with pungent green herbal accents characterizes Nigl’s 2012 Riesling Dornleiten, hints of bitter melon rind and apple pip along with a streak of salinity serving for finishing invigoration and saliva-inducement. While weighing-in just under 13% alcohol, this offers a glycerol-rich and expansive palate impression, an effect no-doubt reinforced by analytically low acidity, but which happily doesn’t preclude animation and refreshment.
