Flowers’ multi-site chardonnay blend draws on their Camp Meeting Ridge estate as well a handful of other far-coast plantings. In 2012 it’s creamy and fresh, like a ripe pear bursting with juice. There’s enough acidity to keep it frisky, while delicate floral aromas speak to the cool coastal sunshine that grew the vines.

This sleek, firmly balanced, youthfully zesty wine may show its cooler climate origins, but, even though a bit tight, it sacrifices nothing in the way of keen, fairly deep Chardonnay fruit, and it hints at increased richness if allowed to age. It narrows and pulls back just a bit in the latter going without losing its well-defined fruity bearings, and it is easy to see more complexity and polish in its future.
