The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry, dark plum, wild hedgerow and strawberry pastilles. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent red and black fruit intermixed on the entry. There is commendable weight in evidence here, decent acidity, although it needs to demonstrate a little more complexity and tension on the finish. Keep the cellared for at least two or three years as I think it has something up its sleeve. Drink 2016-2025. - Neal Martin
