The 2012 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru has a very complex, quite beguiling bouquet with raspberry preserve, sous-bois, rose petals and orange zest all emerging from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with razor-sharp tannins and superb delineation. This actually reminds me of one of Denis Bachelet’s Charmes-Chambertin and the finish has an awesome amount of tension that leaves the mouth tingling long afterward. - Neal Martin

95+ The 2012 Lignier Charmes-Chambertin is outstanding, soaring from the glass in a very deep, complex and elegant mélange of cherries, strawberries, red plums, roses, cocoa, gamebird, beautiful soil tones, a dollop of fresh herbs and a judicious base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and unrepentantly elegant in profile, with a sappy core of fruit, beautiful transparency, fine-grained tannins and superb length and grip on the tangy and seamless finish. Great juice.
