Admirably rich for the vintage, with solid plum and black currant paste flavors, allied to a decidedly brisk and racy structure and backed by plum pit, iron and singed alder notes through the finish, giving this a rather linear feel overall. Should age well, and will likely always have more cut than breadth. Best from 2017 through 2025. 11,933 cases made. –JM

Lots of tobacco, berry and chocolate character with hints of mushrooms follows through to a medium body, firm and silky tannins and a juicy finish. Drink now.

The nose is a compelling mix of dark fruit, pencil lead, cedar/spice box and turned earth. Entry on the palate confirms the wine’s savory qualities, and adds potpourri floral notes along with dried red fruits. This is medium bodied with a significant amount of acidity and structure yet maintains a lively deftness. The tannins are tight and fine-grained suggesting this will start to hit its prime in few years. Overall this is a very solid effort that sings of its place. Drink 2020-2040+
