A discreet if not invisible application of wood sets off notably ripe aromas of brooding dark berry fruit scents that display various amounts of earth, sauvage and floral nuances. There is both good volume and a lovely sense of underlying tension to the mineral-inflected and mouth coating flavors that deliver excellent depth and length on the extract-rich finish. This mildly austere effort will require a few years of cellar time and reach its peak in 8 to 10 years. This is an excellent villages and is also recommended.
