(92-93+) The 2012 Clos Prieur was also just a touch reduced at the time of my visit, so perhaps I am underrating this wine a touch as well. It is certainly very pure and deep under its gentle note of reduction, and may even have a touch more depth in the mid-palate than the stunning Corbeaux! The bouquet is a lovely, black fruity mélange of dark berries, black cherries, grilled meat, dark soil tones, French roast, a bit of bonfire and a nice base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, reserved and absolutely rock solid at the core, with suave tannins, excellent focus and balance and a very long, primary and soil-driven finish. This will be excellent and in all reality, it is probably just as special as the Corbeaux and Petite Chapelle. (Drink between 2022-2050)
