The 2012 Pinot Noir North Valley comes mainly from the Yamhill-Carlton district, fermented in open-top fermenters with 30% whole-cluster, raised in 16% new oak. It has a generous bouquet with small red cherries and pomegranate scents that are just a little muffled at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin: brambly red berry fruit interlaced with white pepper and clove, maintaining good depth toward the slightly dusty finish. Fine. - Neal Martin
