This is notably fresher than the Clos du Roi with its pretty aromas of earth, game, dried flowers and assorted red berry scents. There is a pungently earthy character to the broad-shouldered, intense and muscular flavors that are shaped by relatively fine-grained tannins before concluding in a powerful and persistent if not especially complex finish. This isn’t as powerful or dramatic as the Clos du Roi though I prefer the balance and overall sense of completeness. 2024+
