The 2012 Field Blend is produced with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Malbec, harvested together (the Malbec riper, the Cabernet a bit greener), destemmed and fermented together (10% of the stems were put back into the wine) and aged in used barrels for 20 months. They want to present the benefits of the co-fermentation which they say produces a greater, more complex character than when fermented separately. They say it’s as if it were a different variety. It has plenty of notes of blueberries, blackberries and red fruits as well as an herbaceous aroma of a serious Bordeaux, with cedar wood and black pepper. This is a gentleman of a wine, very sensorial, and shaped by fine tannins. Drink 2014-2021. - Luis Gutierrez
