The Mourvèdre-dominated cuvee from this fabulous estate, the 2013 Faugères Valiniere is a blend of mostly Mourvèdre mixed with a small amount of Syrah. This inky beauty has a big, rich, ripe bouquet of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, chocolate and earth, as well as full-bodied richness, tons of richness and ripe, yet certainly present tannin on the finish. Give this killer Faugères 2-3 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following decade. It's certainly one of the wines of the vintage.-JD
