(BH91-94 points) There is ample wood present here as well with plenty of menthol character to the spicy aromas of violets, sandalwood and black pinot fruit. There is excellent richness to the fleshy medium weight plus flavors that coat the palate with dry extract before concluding in a saline, balanced and lingering finish where the wood telegraphed by the nose resurfaces. Once again the wood isn’t subtle but the density appears to be up to the task of eventually integrating it. 2025+

Wine Spectator - Wine Spectator, May 2016
Rich and succulent, offering cherry, raspberry, floral and spice aromas and flavors. Stylish, picking up a mineral element as this winds down on the long aftertaste. Fine balance. Best from 2018 through 2032. — B.S.

(WA89-91 points) The 2013 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which is matured in 50% new oak, has a tightly wound but nicely defined, very focused bouquet that has fine underlying minerality. The palate is well defined with fine tannins, hints of vanilla and dark chocolate infusing the red berry fruit with quite a commercial, but undeniably sensual, finish. This should give much pleasure over the next 10-15 years. - Neal Martin

Perfumed aromas of red fruits, spices and rose petal complicated by menthol and earth nuances. In an elegant if rather wound-up style, with discreet red fruit flavors nicely supported by savory minerality. Very good material and inner-mouth tension here. Rising raspberry and spice flavors blow past the tannins on the persistent perfumed back end.
