(BH91-94 points) There is ample wood present here as well with plenty of menthol character to the spicy aromas of violets, sandalwood and black pinot fruit. There is excellent richness to the fleshy medium weight plus flavors that coat the palate with dry extract before concluding in a saline, balanced and lingering finish where the wood telegraphed by the nose resurfaces. Once again the wood isn’t subtle but the density appears to be up to the task of eventually integrating it. 2025+

(WA89-91 points) The 2013 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which is matured in 50% new oak, has a tightly wound but nicely defined, very focused bouquet that has fine underlying minerality. The palate is well defined with fine tannins, hints of vanilla and dark chocolate infusing the red berry fruit with quite a commercial, but undeniably sensual, finish. This should give much pleasure over the next 10-15 years. - Neal Martin
