(WA90-92 points) From 11- and 45-year-old vines, the 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru has a terroir-driven bouquet: quite stony, pebbly, with touches of wild mint and perhaps garrigue in the background. The palate is crisp and fresh with superb tension. It does not quite have the persistence at the moment, but the acidity is extremely well judged and there is real race and poise on the finish. One of the best 2013s from Francois Carillon. - Neal Martin
