(BH91-93 points) Strong notes of reduction and sulfur render this unreadable at present. Otherwise though there is a lovely sense of both freshness and vibrancy to the saline, stony and refined middle weight flavors that possess a very different texture than that of the Combettes, all wrapped in a slightly more complex and strikingly persistent finish. This is good stuff with admirable development potential. 2020+

(WA90-92 points) The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet les Perrières 1er Cru has a very withdrawn nose at the moment – hopefully more minerality will surface by the time of bottling. It does begin to open in the glass with delicate popcorn and almond scents – you just want to pry the aromatics open with your fingers. The palate is clean and fresh with orange zest and spicy notes on the entry, a crisp line of acidity and a long build on the finish that finally delivers what you expect from this vineyard with enticing salinity on the aftertaste. - Neal Martin

Apricot, lemon and a strong suggestion of smoky silex on the rocky nose. Rich, sweet and rather powerful but with good citric verve to the flavors of yellow fruits and wet rock. Not quite as pristine as the 2014 version. This wine needs a few years to burn off some of its baby fat.

Beautiful slight golden color. The nose is jumping out of the glass with Asian pear, spiced baked apple, lemon pith, wet slate and a light herbaceous note. The nose is jumping out of the glass with Asian pear, spiced baked apple, lemon pith, wet slate and a light herbaceous note. The palate is a confirmation of the fruit and slate from the nose but the texture is the star of the show with this Chardonnay. The wine comes in heavy, round but very soft before being lifted by the acid that is high, but very soft and provides excellent balance. Great length on the finish. A wonderful and classic expression of 1er Cru Puligny-Montrachet. Drink now through 2020.
