(91-94 points) The 2013 Corton “Bressandes” from Domaine Chandon de Briailles had also finished up its malo in mid-summer and was showing pretty well at the time of my visit. The deep, pure and black fruity bouquet offers up scents of black cherries, cassis, black plums, venison, chocolate, lovely soil tones and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, young and primary, with a fine core, ripe, suave tannins and very good length and grip on the tangy finish.

(91-93 points) This too is quite reduced yet from barely perceptible fruit seems fresh. As is usually the case there is slightly finer mouth feel to the broad-shouldered flavors that also possess fine mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a firmly structured but not hard finish. This is youthfully austere with just a hint of rusticity and this too will definitely require patience.

(91 - 93 points) The 2013 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru feels a little more nuanced and understated, but more complex with more minerality than the Corton Maréchaudes. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe black cherry, pomegranate and blackcurrant fruit with a shard of flint toward the finish. This is very harmonious, beautifully focused with a sophisticated finish that attests to the pedigree of this vineyard. This would be my pick of Chandon de Briailles 2013s.- NM

The 2013 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru, which contains no SO2 and uses a pneumatic press, has a very attractive nose with brambly red fruit, undergrowth and morels. Wild mint emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit and brittle tannins. It's fresh and lively but very linear and tight on the finish. What this does have is freshness and a sapid finish. What you call a "vertical" Pinot Noir. Very classy. -- Neal Martin

This is spicy, with sandalwood, vanilla, green olive and wild berry flavors building from start to finish. Balanced in a lean, tightly wound style, presenting a lingering, spicy aftertaste. Best from 2018 through 2032. 334 cases made. — BS
