Over the last few years, I have really come to fully appreciate just how fine a wine the Chevillon Roncières is and I wish I had cellared more of it in my early days of collecting, as I would love to have a cellar full of vintages of this wine approaching maturity! The 2013 is a dynamite wine in the making, soaring from the glass in a blaze of plums, black cherries, incipient notes of meatiness, beautifully pure soil tones, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off great mid-palate depth, with lovely soil signature, excellent focus and balance, ripe tannins and a very long, poised and vibrant finish. A stellar bottle in the making. (Drink between 2021-2050)

(WA90-92 points) The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru les Roncieres has a more introspective bouquet compared to the Bousselots at the moment. There are traces of tightly wound raspberry preserve scents flanked by red plum and limestone, but you have to eke them out from the glass. The palate is elegant and focused on the entry, supple in the mouth, with nicely judged acidity and a slightly confit sensation toward the structured finish. Very fine, though not the best in 2013. - Neal Martin

Like the Chaignots the medium weight flavors are juicy and succulent with plenty of volume and mid-palate density before terminating in a palate coating finish that is balanced and sweet in the best sense of the term.

Aromas of red cherry, raspberry, earth and leather. Fuller on the palate than the Bousselots but without quite the same definition and thrust to its flavors of red fruits and spices. Here the tannins are a bit less refined and the finish hints at caramel oak.
