This wine has a rich, fat, almost buttery character. Certainly the acidity is there, although it has a warm, summer feel. The structure typical of Les Clos is all there as well, giving concentration and density. At the end spice goes with the extreme freshness of the citrus aftertaste. Drink from 2020.

Like the Valmur there is plenty of smoky mineral reduction present on the fresh pear, green apple and white flower aromas. There is impressive concentration and power to the broad-shouldered medium weight flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the intensely saline, lemony, balanced and solidly persistent finish. This is really quite good and should drink well young but deliver more depth with medium-term cellaring.

Alluring aromas of lime, coconut, butterscotch, lemon and melon highlight this elegant, detailed white, which is balanced and will benefit from a year or so in bottle to integrate. Fine length. Drink now through 2020. 1,400 cases made. –BS

90+ Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Brouilland. The 2013 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos has a reduced nose that works well in the sense that it does not obscure the Chablis-like character or indeed, that of Les Clos. The palate is fresh on the entry with lemon peel, sherbet, a touch of white peach and hazelnut. The attenuates slightly towards the finish, but overall this is a commendable les Clos that should give a decade's worth of pleasure. I expect it to meliorate in bottle over the next 2-3 years.
