The 2013 Cornas Brise Cailloux is gorgeous. Incredibly perfumed and complex aromatically, it offers a smorgasbord of peppery spice, olive tapenade, game and small black fruits on the nose. This gives way to a medium-bodied, elegant, seamless Cornas that shows the freshness and purity of the vintage, has moderate tannin and beautiful minerality on the finish. It’s already hard to resist but should drink nicely for a decade. As normal, this cuvee comes from the younger vines of the estate and a number of different sites in Cornas, all of which are mostly granite. It spent 15 months in 70% foudre and 30% in tanks. - Jeb Dunnuck
