(WA92-94 points) The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Suchots, which comes from the domains century-old vines on more clayey soil than the Beaumonts, has a pixilated bouquet with vibrant red currant and cranberry scents, more floral than the aforementioned premier cru. The palate is medium-bodied with supple juicy tannins, a fine line of acidity and a tangy marmalade-tinged finish that coats the mouth in spicy red fruit. There is just lovely build to this Suchots that is streets ahead of the 2012. - Neal Martin

(BH90-93♥ points) Here the nose is slightly riper than that of the Beaux Monts but otherwise largely similar. There is a bit more volume if less minerality to the generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors that possess plenty of structure-buffering dry extract, all wrapped in a highly persistent and better balanced finale. Textbook Suchots that should amply reward 7 to 10 years of cellar time.

The 2013 Suchots chez Hudelot is utterly classic and another ringing success for the vintage. The 2013 Suchots chez Hudelot is utterly classic and another ringing success for the vintage. The black fruity bouquet jumps from the glass in a blend of dark berries, black cherries, gamebirds, espresso, dark soil tones, fresh herbs and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very soil-driven in personality, with an excellent core, suave tannins and a long, tangy and beautifully balanced finish. High class juice. Cool, discreet aromas of berries and minerals lifted by peppery, floral high notes. Boasts terrific inner-mouth energy to its dark berry, violet and pepper flavors, with a saline element adding another dimension; displays terrific inner-palate tension in the way of the best 2013s. Finishes firmly tannic, with terrific carry-through to the intense fruit and spice flavors.
