The 2013 Meursault “Charmes” from Monsieur Lafon shares the same intense, almost salty soil tones of the Genevrières this year, delivering an excellent aromatic constellation of apple, pear, a touch of fresh coconut, almond, chalky saltiness and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and displays excellent mid-palate depth, with lovely focus and grip, impeccable balance and a very long, racy and quite mineral finish. (BH89-91 points) A fresh, citrusy and cool nose presents notes of pear, green apple and roasted nut nuances. There is fine punch and solid detail to the attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess both fine depth and length at this level. Recommended.

(WA88-90 points) The 2013 Meursault Villages has an appealing bouquet with straightforward apple blossom and citrus aromas. The palate is well balanced with impressive weight in the mouth, a keen thread of acidity and pleasant, orange zest and hazelnut notes on the rather conservative finish.
