94+ The Drouhin’s Clos de Bèze is always a bit more reserved out of the blocks than their Griotte, though in my experience, it is one of the best bottlings of the grand cru produced in all of Burgundy, if one is sufficiently patient to leave it sleeping in the cellar until it starts to blossom. The 2013 is another characteristically structured and classic example in the making, offering up a youthful bouquet of cassis, black cherries, grilled meats, coffee, a superb base of soil, mustard seed and cedary wood. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very much defined by its terroir, with a superb core of fruit, fine-grained tannins, bright acids and outstanding length and grip on the still very youthful finish. All this great wine needs is bottle age to blossom.
