95+ The Roty family’s 2013 Charmes-Chambertin “Trés Vieilles Vignes”, which is made from what are probably the very oldest vines in all of Burgundy, is also brilliant in this vintage. The bouquet is young, pure and black fruity, wafting from the glass in a blend of cassis, dark berries, grilled meats, espresso, a fine base of dark soil tones, cedary, plenty of smokiness and an exotic touch of eucalyptus in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and quite youthful, with a rock solid core, excellent transparency, ripe, well-integrated tannins and great focus and grip on the very long finish.
