(BH91-93 points) This isn't quite as ripe and the nose is a bit fresher if perhaps not quite as complex with its pretty aromas of mineral reduction, citrus and dried white flowers. Here too there is a good sense of underlying tension to the broad-shouldered and generously proportioned flavors that possess plenty of palate coating dry extract, all wrapped in a saline, long and intense finish that engenders that involuntary salivating reaction. This too should be accessible in its youth.

The 2013 Louis Michel Grenouilles is more typical of this forward vintage, but it does offer up a fine, riper style on both the nose and palate. The bouquet is a blend of tangerine, apple, a touch of anise, plenty of smokiness and a good underpinning of minerality. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, forward and complex, with a fine core, good acids and a long, primary and fairly powerful finish. This will be a bit more fruit-driven in personality than the Vaudésir, but will offer up good drinking at a fairly early age. (Drink between 2016-2025)
