(JG92-93+ points) The 2013 Petite Chapelle was just a touch reduced at the time of my visit, but with a bit of coaxing, offers up a very good nose of red and black cherries, cocoa, gamebirds, lovely soil tones, smoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off lovely mid-palate depth, with lovely transparency, fine-grained tannins and a long, tangy and impressive finish. This is more reserved today than any of the other premier crus in the Rossignol cellars, which I take to be a very good sign for its ultimate longevity and quality. Lovely juice. (WA90-92 points) The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle did not undergo any pigeage (as usual) because of the heavy clay soil. It has a tightly wound bouquet with raspberry and wild hedgerow scents, a little more withdrawn compared to the Clos Prieur at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, harmonious in the mouth, with very good persistence on the finish. Plenty of freshness to savor here with a tang of white pepper on the aftertaste. - Neal Martin

This is slightly more elegant with its restrained nose of admirably pure essence of dark currant, pomegranate, rose petal and discreet spice and herbal tea nuances that are trimmed in subtle wood notes. There is ample minerality and plenty of punch to the middle weight and beautifully delineated flavors that possess excellent persistence on the moderately austere, mouth coating and more well-balanced finale. 2021+
