(WA90-92 points) The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Au Closeau, which was taken from a one-year-old barrel, has a fine, mineral-led bouquet with fine definition. The palate is crisp and delineated with fine tannins and a sense of energy toward the finish. This is one of the better wines from Drouhin-Laroze this year. - Neal Martin

(BH89-92 points) Mild reduction pushes the fruit to the background though it does seem ripe. There is a lovely sense of verve to the delineated and solidly intense medium weight flavors that possess lovely depth and a bit more Gevrey style earth on the well-balanced, saline and persistent finish. While I suspect that both this and the Craipillot will require about the same amount of time to arrive at their respective peaks, this will probably drink a bit less well in its youth. 2021+

The nose brings dried plum, slight menthol, earth and iron, underscored by brown spice. On the palate, this is really mouthwatering, topped off with ripe dark cherry, strawberry and succulent tannins. The concentrated cherry notes compound on the finish along with modest mineral notes. Surprisingly approachable, but more to come. Drink now through 2025+.
