This possesses the most complex nose in the range with its plethora of spice, menthol, earth, humus and very fresh assortment of dark berry fruit scents. There is excellent volume and punch to the sleekly muscular and powerful medium weight plus flavors that possess fine cut on the balanced and quite firm finale that delivers outstanding length. Unlike the Poissenot though this beauty is unlikely to drink well before at least 10 years have passed.

(WA90-92 points) The 2013 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, which comes from vines planted in 1954 on red soils in the Mazoyères, has a dense and ripe blackcherry and blueberry-scented bouquet that is Bonnes-Mares in style. The palate is structured and dense, quite firm tannin here with a tightly-wound tight-lipped mienrally finish. More impressive than enjoyable at the moment, this will need several years in bottle. - Neal Martin
